Buying a ring online - How to find the perfect fit

A ring is a great gift for a loved one or a treat for yourself, but when shopping online, you can’t try them on to find the right size.

Using the two methods to measure your ring size at home will make it easy to find your perfect fit! The ring should be a comfortable fit, snug enough to avoid slipping off your finger but with enough wiggle room to push over your knuckle with some force.

Things to consider:

  • Avoid measuring your fingers after physical activity or in warm environments, as your fingers may swell.
  • Consider the shape of your finger; for example, if you have a wider knuckle than your lower finger, order half a size up.
  • The ring band width can impact sizing; thicker rings tend to feel snugger on the finger.

Method 1: Finger Circumference

The Hands-on Method

You will need paper, scissors and a measuring tape or ruler to do this method.

  1. Cut a strip of paper around 2cm tall and 10cm wide.
  2. Wrap the paper around the base of the finger you wish to measure and mark where the ends meet.
  3. Measure from the end of the paper to the mark in millimetres; this is the circumference of your finger.
  4. Using this measurement, compare it to our conversion chart below to find your ring size.

Method 2: Ring Diameter

Measure an Existing Ring

Alternatively, if you already have a ring that fits, you can measure it to find your size. Simply take your ruler and measure across the inside of your ring.

Note the diameter measurement in millimetres and compare it to our conversion chart to find your size.
